Cogswell 1950 Melospiza melodia 3 Aug.17 Hampshire Rocks Camp Site, 3900ft, on S Fork Yuba R, Placer Co., Calif - 2 seen in creek dogwood willows 2 on rocks & wood debris in rocky pool portion of stream bank. Aug.17 (pm) Little Truckee R. valley 5800ft. 3 mi E, 5+mi. N Hobart Mills, Sierra Co., Calif - About 5 found in 40 min. part walking across grassy (pastured) valley with willow thickets along a winding stream. At least 1 fledgling still being led by adults. Aug.18 SE end Bear Valley, 4600ft, Placer Co., Calif. - 3+ seen foraging among wood debris & under few shrubs at water's edge along Bear R, which is here a small stream (6 ft wide) flowing at bottom of a 10 ft deep gully. A few tall white alders are scattered along the banks. Aug.21 Broseer Cr., 5650ft. [see p.2] - 4 seen.
