Cogswell 1950 Spizella passerina 7 Aug.18 S.E.end Bear Valley,4600ft.,Glacier Co.Calif.- about 15 encountered in 1/2 hr.spent along gullied stream bed with scattered white alders + nearby forest border (yellow pine, black oak, incense cedar, etc.) were a few adults, the rest were in juvenile and 1st winter plumage (streaked crown, plain breast) Aug.22 N.side Lake Van Norden,6800 ft., Glacier Nevada Co.Calif about 300 est., flying up from roadside in same area as increase of nos.previously recorded (see p.2). Aug.24 N.E.side Dulzara L.(lower "Dee Lakes"), 6900ft.Glacier Co.Calif similarly concentrated in similar open floodal lodgepole pine forest near a lake.- Est. 200 seen in 1 hr. walk with several long stops.
