73 were seen in the several I had close views.
Finally the whole group flew on across the
very low "Broomholz" of whitetark pine in
the cirque between Jobs Sister & Fred Peak.
When in flight, they kept up a constant, loud
"hip, hip -- hip -- hip, hip" series of notes.
Aug. 14 Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft., 1/2 mi. SSW Donner Base,
Placer Co., Calif. - 1 flew over eastward, calling 'monts'
No late August records [we had flocks again
near Sugar Bowl in late Aug. 1948].
