June 23 N side {Bear Valley, 4580-4600ft., Nevada -> Placer Cos. Calif.
2 heard singing (1 of them in ? plumage) and 1 other heard calling — in oaks & alders around edges of broad grassy meadow.
June 25 Sierra Valley, 4900 ft., Sierra Co., Calif. - several seen & heard singing about farm buildings in SW & central parts of valley.
June 27 Reno, 4500 ft., Washoe Co., Nevada - several seen in outskirts.
July 7 N side Bear Valley, 4580 ft., Nevada Co., Calif. - 1 seen (singing)? & 1 ? plumaged bird also seen nearby. — In black oaks.
July 21 2 flew over grassy meadow with few oaks, giving characteristic flight notes.
July 26 along US Route 395 S Reno, 4550 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - 4 seen on fence & telephone wires in farmland with numerous windbreak & dooryard trees (cottonwoods, etc.).
Aug. 4 - N side Bear Valley [see above] - 1+ ? seen, others heard calling.
Aug. 5 E. & S. of Reno, 4500' ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - about 20 seen in suburbs & farmland in grass & crop areas while we drove about 10 miles of road thru same.
Aug. 6 N side Carson Valley near Genoa, Douglas Co., Nev. — Several seen along roadside; both in sagebrush & grassland.
Carson City, Ormsby Co., Nev. - fairly common in center of town — in a near state capitol grounds. als. seen feeding fledglings about these well shaded grounds.
Aug. 18 S.E. side Bear Valley [see above] - 2 ?? seen in black oaks with alders along stream in broad grassy valley.
[We obtained no records at higher altitudes than the above although many intermediate points were visited.]
