Aug. 16 near Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft., 1.2 mi. SSW Donner Pass,
Placer Co., Calif. - 1 ♂ seen, one of the few noted in
last few days. ♀♀ immatures are still abundant.
Aug. 18 about 10 (all ♀♀ or immature) recorded in 1/4
(2:10-4 pm) mi. of conifer forest (Pinus murrayana, A. monticola, abies magnifica).
Aug. 23 Yalena Cr. Camp, 6600 ft., Carson Range, Washoe Co., Nev.
2 seen in same area as on June 27 (q.v.), these both ♀ or imm.
Aug. 24 near Sugar Bowl Lodge [see above] - ♀♀ and/or imm-
[to Aug. 26] matures still common in conifer forest &
mountain alders along small streams. No
♂♂ seen since 16th except 1 with dull red
head (= 1st year ♂ ?), on "Signal Hill", 3/4 mi.
W Donner Pass on the 24th.
