Coggswell 1950 Wilsonia pusilla 3 Aug.1-2 near Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft. [see p.2] - only songs heard now are hesitating, published in volume; aug.8, and a few of those -> Last heard these half-songs. aug.11] Aug.5 Lisco Grove, 5650 ft.. [see p.2] - I heard calling in under- Jul.16 growth of riparian woodland. Aug.14 near Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft. [see p.2] - 3 seen or heard on 1 3/4 hr. slow walk thru conifer forest bordering willow patches of wet meadows. 2 were in willows. Aug.17 Hampshire Rocks, 5900 ft., on S. Fork Yuba R., Placer Co., Calif. - 3 seen in willow-dogwood-aspen riparian thickets & admixed pines & cottonwoods. Aug.18 near Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft. [see p.2] - about 10 encountered in 1/8 mi. walk thru conifer forest (red fir + lodgepole + silver pines); this is largest no. of this species recorded well away from the willow, aspen & forest border habitat it breeds in. Hence, dispersal and/or migration movement is indicated - about 2 wks. later than influx of several other warblers. Aug.24- 7100 ft., 3/4 mi. W Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif. - 2 in mixed hard & soft chaparral + patches of conifers. (p.m) - Ice Lakes, 6900 ft., 3 mi. W, 1 mi. S Donner Pass, Placer Co. Calif. - 3 seen in lodgepole pine - red fir forest (cf. numbers of Vermivora celata, Dendroica auduboni) Aug.25 7100 ft., 1/2-2 1/2 mi. S Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif. about 5 seen along edges of conifer forest & interspersed with shrub patches (aspen, cherry, ny oak huckleberry) Aug.26 near Sugar Bowl Lodge [see above] - 1 seen.
