Cogswell 1950 Dendroica aestiva = petechia June 17 Chubb Lake, 5250 ft., in Sec. 22, T 17 N, R 12 E, Nevada Co. Calif. - 1 heard singing in area of black oaks + chaparral + young cedars. June 29 Soda Springs, 6750 ft. Nevada Co. Calif. - 2 singing from tall, June 30 dense willow thickets along S. fork Yuba R. This is the same area as the highest altitudinal occurrence of singing individuals I noted in 1948. For some reason this sp. does not seem to occur in the willows + alders near Sugar Bowl Lodge (7000 ft.), perhaps because of the snow lingering up to 1 month longer there - leaves coming out late as a consequence. June 24 Cisco Grove, 5650 ft., on S. fork Yuba R., Placer Co., Calif. - 3 heard (am.) singing in 1/8 mile of riparian woodland consisting of tall black cottonwoods + short willows, dogwood, (p.m.) W. end Donner Lake, 6000 ft., Nevada Co., Calif. - 1 singing from strip of aspen trees + tall shrubs along inlet stream creek. Many pines are admixed here even up to the June 25 5100+ ft., mouth of Cold Cr. canyon, S. Sierraville, Sierra Co. Calif. 2 heard singing in riparian woodland. June 27 Truckee River between Verdi's Reno, 4800-4500 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. 3 heard singing in black (near Verdi) and Fremont cotton- woods along foothill + valley stream. June 28 Boca, 5500 ft., Nevada Co., Calif. - 1 heard singing in willow - alder riparian strip along Truckee River.. July 4 1/2 mi. NE Lake Van Warden, 6800 ft., Placer Co., Calif. - 2 seen, 1 often a singing ?, in tall willow thickets at border of broad goldenrod + clover meadow and open conifer forest. This is about 1 1/2 mi. E of June 29 & June 30 records. Still none have been located at Sugar Bowl 1 1/2 mi to SSE.
