Aug.23 Salena Cr. Camp Ground, 6600 ft, Carson Range, Washoe Co.
New: - 1 bright-plumaged male (apparently with
new feathers nearly grown - or else not yet
molting) seen in Jeffrey pine - white fir - black
cottonwood forest on rocky alluvial fan in
canyon-mouth.
Aug.24 700 ft, 3/4 mi. W Donner Pass [see p.1] - 1 seen in dense
thickets with few fir & pine trees nearby.
- 6900 ft. NE Dalguna L., 3 mi. W, 1 mi. S Donner Pass,
Placer Co, Calif.- 1 seen in lodgepole pine - red fir
forest (cf. nor. of V. celata, D. auduboni).
Aug.25 near Sugar Bowl Lodge - 2+ seen in elders of
forest openings; at least one was an ad. ♂.
