Cogswell 1950 Vires gilvius 4 July 12 Malena C. Camp, 6600 ft., Carson Range, Washoe Co., Nev. I heard singing from mixed stand of Jeffrey pines, white firs, & black cottonwoods on alluvial fan in mouth of canyon; stream nearby. July 13 near Sugar Bowl Lodge [see p.]] - 1 adult seen carrying apparently some food to the nest of June 17, which now contained young, 26 days after it was being built! July 13] July 18] 7100 ft. '14 mi. S Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif. - 1 adult feeding young birds (several days old) in another NEST located about 11 ft. up in a subterminal Tufty crotch of, a thicket of mountain alders. some of young July 17 near Sugar Bowl Lodge [see p.]] - 1 ad. seen at nest, and another heard singing nearby in willow thickets of "meadow" near forest edge (on July 22) July 18] " 19] N.C. site L. Van Norden, 6800 ft., Placer Co., Calif. - 1 sing. sing from willow & aspen thickets containing & close to scattered tall conifers. July 22 Cisco Grove, 5650 ft. on S Fork Yuba R., Placer Co., Calif. 3 heard singing in 1 hr. visit to riparian woodland (black cottonwood & aspen) along "flat". July 23 near High Meadow, 7900 ft., Carson Range, El Dorado Co., Calif. - 1 singing from aspens along stream. July 25 near Sugar Bowl Lodge [see above] - 2 singing in & near "Cogswell meadow", neither near the June 17 nest. July 31 1 seen (silent) among warblers, etc., in denser low alders conifer forest N of lodge, but near opening with, Aug 3- 2 seen in similar situation. [also not singing] or maybe seen Aug 5 Cisco Grove [see above] - 1 heard singing in tall cottonwoods.
