Aug. 9 Malena Cr Camp, 6600 ft., Carson Range, Washoe Co.
Rev. - 1 seen in lower branches of Jeffrey pine - white fir - black cottonwood forest of canyon mouth on rocky alluvial fan, near stream.
In 1948 a nest with 4 large young was found about 200 yards upstream from here. It was placed in the bouldery dirt of the stream bank & the young were being fed by small boys of a camper's family while the 2 adult solitaire's scolded the whole pro- ceeding with the petulant "indrawn" whistle.
Aug.25 7100+ ft., ½ mi. S Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif. - 1 im- mature-plumaged individual flew from low perch to perch about 3 times in front of approach of about 8 people. It was in a fairly dense forest near an open, higher area covered by shrubs & a cleared ski trail. It gave no call note that we could hear.
