July 9. S.W. end Lake Tahoe, 6230 ft., Eldorado Co., Calif. - 2 ♀ seen on strip of grassland between extensive marshes and "island" of lodgepole pines, on 1 of which they perched.
Lake Valley, few mi. S of above - several ♂♂,♀♀ seen.
July 12
7400 ft., 2.3 mi E., .6 mi. S Mt. Rose, Carson Range washoe Co. Nev. - 1 pair at grassy meadow, by a stand small (ridge?) with small pond and of aspens + chaparral + forested slopes.
July 13
7200-7300 ft., Sierra crest, ¼ to ¾ mi. N Donner, Pass Nevada Co., Calif. - 4+ pairs seen along rocky but gently sloping ridge which is clothed (on W side) by very open or patchy Jeffrey + lodgepole pine + sierra juniper "woodland" with scattered patches of low shrubs (blueberry oak, manzanitas). 3 small lakes in the ½ mile did not seem to attract the bluebirds, which foraged rather over + on the bare rock (glaciated) exposures between them or sparsely herb. covered, rock fragment areas.
1 pair entered + left a hole in a dead pine.

NE Lake Van Norden, 6800 ft., Placer Co., Calif. - ♀ (only) seen carrying food into same nest hole which was reported on by others on July 6 (see above). This now ♀ has one crippled foot, a condition we did not note before.
July 22 Soda Springs, 6750 ft., Nevada Co., Calif. - 4 seen in area of the several nests reported on June 20 (except to 6000 "1st nest").
July 27
5650 ft., 2+ mi E., 3½-7½ mi. N Truchee, Nevada Co., Calif.
2 seen in grassy valley of Brosse Creek, and 3 others along road to Stampede Valley, these in sparse Jeffrey pines + sagebrush.
