Cogswell 1950 Certilia familiaris 7 July 6 (cont.) 1104 - June, in nest tree at this time was ignored. 1104 1/4 - flew to base of yg. lodgepoles 80+ ft N of Nest tree. Sang from there. 1106 1/2 - & into W side of Nest tree, to N with moth in beak, & flew away to NW again by: 1107 - alighting in 1st lodgepole. 50 ft away, I sang from 100+ ft. North yet. 1107 3/4 - ad. into nest (from ? direction) 1108 1/4 - out & onto branches on SW side of N tree almost over my head. 1108 3/4 - Red-breasted Mithatch called from trees NW & then NE of Creeper nest tree, answered. 1109 1/2 - I flew in from E to trunk of Nest tree 6 ft below Nest branch. Into Nest & out again by 1110. 1112 1/2 - I "see" call heard 50+ ft NW of nest tree. 1114 1/2 - I flew in from NW, alighting on trunk of nest tree 6 ft from ground & began creeping up. It held a transparent winged insect in its bill. As it approached the nest level (but still on trunk) the other bird came in from E & started to alight on trunk near the first, but reversed & went to a branch. The 2 exchanged soft "weep" call notes. (I-see below) 1115 1/4 - The original arriver went abruptly across to Nest, out again after 8+ sec. & stopped in NW side of nest tree before going on.
