Cogswell 1950 Certhia familiaris Brown Field Record of Activities of Pair of Creepers near their Nest, at 6800 ft. altitude, Norden, Placer Co, Calif. July 6 - 0815 - Start of observations on NEST, described above, in lodgepole pine near Norden RR Station. Bird heard calling in pines 40 & 80 ft. from nest. I am stationed 30 ft., from next tree. 0821- observer moved to 50 ft. S of nest tree. I aduit bird creeping along horiz. branches of nest tree 20 ft. above nest., called several times. Nest seems to extrude more from the dropping bark than on 2 days ago. 0824- adult alighted on barkless limb, then on secret with bark, near nest. 08241/2 - ad. into Nest & out again; alighting on same barkless limb 5 ft. from Nest entrance. 0825 - Same? one foraging on horiz. limbs, 30 ft up, in next pine east. 0827- still heard near same several pines E of Nest 0828 - flew in from E, alighted on bark of limb 8 ft S of Nest, then outs bottom of loose bark under Nest, up it & in, out again in 3" seconds. 08281/2 - another(?) in from E, stopping & creeping up barkless limb, to nest, out again. 0830 - in from E to barkless limb, over to Nest, stayed in for 10 sec. & came out via side a few inches from usual entrance. 0832 - I flew from Next tree to Lodgepole 30 ft ESE, then on to out 80 ft farther, creped up 20+ ft., Then flew back to lodgepole way to Next tree. Lost track of it. 0835. Bothin flew into upper pt of Nest tree.
