W Donner Pass, Placer & Nevada Cos., Calif. - 6 seen in same area as on July 8. - Disney Peak [see p. 1] . 4 flew over in p.m. July 31 7100 ft., 1/2 mi. S Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif. - 3+ flew over, headed southward parallel to Sierran crest. much moving about of individuals or small groups, is apparent from last several records. aug. 6 6300 ft., S.E. end Lake Tahoe, Eldorado Co., Calif. - 1 walk- ing on ground amid scattered manzanita bushes under, second growth Jeffrey pine forest, Haines Cr. Canyon, 5500-5000 ft., E side Carson Range, Douglas Co., Nev. - about 5 seen while driving down "Kingsbury Grade" - all of them m. Jeffrey pines with a few white firs mixed near canyon. 4900 ft., 1 mi. S Verdi, Washoe Co., Nev. - 1 flew steadily southward (toward Mt. Rose), across the Truckee River valley here in late p.m. This is just about at lowermost limit of conifer trees on the slopes, the area being mostly sagebrush + grass. aug. 9 8730 ft., 1/2 mi. N Mt. Rose -Slide Mtn. saddle, Carson Range, Washoe Co., Nev. - about 5 seen on 40 min. stop (Cf. July 26 & previous dates). [about 10 here on Aug. 23] aug 8, {slopes of Disney Peak, 7500+ ft. [see p. 1] - 1 or 2 heard. 10, 11 aug. 16) aug. 17 -6000 ft., 1 mi. NE Truckee, Nevada Co., Calif. - 1 flying over Jeffrey pine - sagebrush woodland along flat near Truckee River. aug. 21 7000 ft., 1/2 mi. S W Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif. - 2 flew directly over a 10+ acre forest fire at an altitude of about 250 ft. (3x tree top height).
