Cogswell 1950 Hirundo rustica June 23 - S.side Bear Valley, 4885 ft., Blucher Co., Calif. - 1 flew low over broad grassy meadow surrounded by conifer forest. June 25 Sierra Valley, 4900+ ft., Sierra & Plumas Cos., Calif. Numerous seen mostly over wet land near farm buildings. June 27 S.of Reno, 4600+ ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - 2+ noted in flight over pastured farmland bordering US highway 395, many cottonwoods & other trees about the farm buildings along the fence rows. July 10 E.side Boca Reservoir, 5580 ft., Nevada Co., Calif. - 2 (=pair?) July 11 individuals seen flying in & out from under a low wooden culvert over the slightly marshy inlet to an eastward bay of the reservoir. They foraged mostly over the 4+ acre grassy swale close to the culvert, sometimes on over the reservoir or up over dry sagebrush on the adjacent higher slopes. The pair were flushed from under this culvert on p.m. of July 11. July 12 W.of Reno, 4800-4500 ft.; Washoe Co., Nev. - 6 or 7 noted in flight over grassy fields along 8+ mi. of highway. July 24 E.side Boca Res.[see above] - about 5, including 2+ juveniles flying over grassy swale near July 10-11 nest area, & perching briefly on the 5 ft. high twigs of a driftwood tree along the shore. July 26 S.of Reno, 4600+ ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - 2 over grassy farmland. July 27 Drosser Co., 3650 ft., 1½ mi. E, 3½ mi. N Truchee, Nevada Co., Calif. 1 flying over grassy valley (with gravelly stream) in sagebrush country. Aug.5 S.& E.of Reno, 4600-4500 ft. Washoe Co., Nev. - many seen over farmland areas & marshes toward S of Truckee R.
