July 23 Mantis Valley, 5850 ft., 3-4 mi. SE Truckee, Nevada
Co., Calif. - a flock of 10+ seen over sparse sage-
brush + grassland along road as we drove by.
July 24 E. of Boca Res., 5600 ft., Nevada Co., Calif. - flock
of about 20, including several in streaked
juvenal plumage, flew and walked ahead
of us as we traversed the sagebrush flat
near the nest site described on June 28.
July 26 Mantis Valley, [see above] - flock of 6+ along road.
Aug 6 Washoe Valley, 5010 ft., just N Washoe L., Washoe Co., Nev.
about 20 encountered on a 1 hr. walk (round
trip) across dry grassy flat near bit of
marsh & sandy lake shore.
Aug. 7 E. of Boca Res. [see above] - flock of about 150,
including juvenal plumaged individuals, which
in comparison with July 24 indicates definitely
increased gregariousness within 2 wks. in
this same area. No songs heard on either date.
Aug. 21 5800+ ft., 1 mi. E, 4½ mi. N Truckee, Nevada Co., Calif.
a flock of at least 150 wheeled up over

drying grassland.
