Cogswell 1950 Nuttallornis borealis Aug.3 7150 ft. 3/4 mi. W Donner Pass, Placer Co. Calif.- 2 adults (far separated) seen in the general region of the above described nest, but no evidence of young; I think only one of these was in the pair's territory. Aug.4 to Aug.17 Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft., 1.2 mi. SSW Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif.- 1 still calls "what-peeves-you" occasionally Aug.6 Daggett Pass, 7450 ft., and Haines Cr. Canyon E. of Mt. Carson Range, Douglas Co., Nev.- 3 seen in 5 miles of open arid Jeffrey pine forest (3 stops made with car), I was calling "what-peeves-you" near top of pass. Aug.10 W.end Donner Lake, 5950ft., Nevada Co. Calif. - 1 "singing" Aug.26 Sugar Bowl Lodge,[see above] - 1 still "singing" the full "what-peeves-you" occasionally from borders of cleared ski slopes, although only the "pil-pil-pil" call is heard most of the time.
