July 13 near Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft., 1.2 mi. SW Donner Pass,
-July 18 Placer Co., Calif. - Numbers still same as early
July, singing is steady early & late in day.
July 26 Valena Cr. Camp, 6600 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - 1 sitting
on a NEST (contents?) saddled on high branch of
a completely leafless (recently dead) cottonwood
at edge of a clearing by the stream.

aug. near Sugar Bowl Lodge [see above] - "singing" still
frequent, the full "p'tr-tr-tr-ip ------- p'eeur"
being given only early & late in day.
aug. 6 Carson City, 4675 ft., Ormsby Co., Calif. - 1 pair very
busy at feeding 3+ fledglings in lower
branches of trees and on lawn below them
in grounds of state capitol. at noon on abt day.
mid.
aug. near Sugar Bowl Lodge [see above] - vocalizing in
mid-day greatly reduced, altho still heard
from a few individuals. I haven't been out in
carly a. m., but think they are nearly silent now.
late
aug. no full "p'eeur" calls recorded in 20-26th
period, though birds are still present in
more or less full numbers.
