Cogswell 1950 Asyndetus lewis June 27 5800 ft. 4+ mi. E & slightly N Truckee, Nevada Co., Calif - 1 flew between tall dead tree trunks of burned area in former arid Jeffrey pine forest - now mostly grass & sagebrush - on plateau just N Truckee River. July 12 5350 ft. 1 mi. SE Boca, Nevada Co., Calif. - 1 flew onto trunk of a 8+ inch diameter Jeffrey pine at border of sparse forest & sagebrush along US Route 40. July 23 D reel Peak, 10,900 ft, Alpine - Eldorado Co. line, Calif. 2 flew over the fell-field area above timberline, coursed in wide, erratic sweeps in the rather stiff breeze & then plunged rapidly down into the forested headwater canyons above High Meadow. Geo Treidel, John Harville & others present said the 2 birds came up from the Alpine Co. side. Aug. 9 5800 ft., 3 mi. E, 2 mi. N Truckee, Nevada Co., Calif - 1 in partly burned, scattered Jeffrey pines on side of Truckee River valley.
