Cogswell 1950 Chordeiles minor 6 Aug. 5 Truckee River Canyon, 4900 - 5500 ft., Nevada & Calif. while driving up U.S Route 40 from Reno toward Donner Pass at 5 after sundown, more greaternumbers were seen than I have ever noted at one time in my life except in migrating flocks. (4500 ft.) Reno were active before 5 at sunset whilefrom Verdi to near Truckee (dark to seebeyond that) over 100 were counted foraging near the road - most of them close tothe river or the canyon floor & its walls. Included were several 37 with brightwhite throats. All were foraging indi-vidually, with no evidence of migratorymovement. Aug. 6 E. side Washoe Valley, 5050 ft., Washoe Co. Nev. 1 flying over sagebrush & grass valley inmild p.m. of this hot day Aug. 9 N. end same valley - about 5 seen in late arm. Aug. 7-1521, Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft., 1/2 mi. SSW Donner PassPlacer Co., Calif - about 5 seen over meadow & adjacent forest on all evenings observed, when I Aug. 17 Hampshire Rocks, 5900 ft., on S fork Yuba R., PlacerCo., Calif - about 5 flying high over rocky,sparingly forested N-facing slope in mid-a.m. Aug. 21 Drosser Co. valley, 5700 ft., 1 1/3 mi. E, 3 1/2 mi. N Truckee,Nevada & Calif. - 2 flying over sagebrush & nearbyand Jeffrey pine forest with grassy swales. Aug. 23 Little Washoe Lake, 5010 ft., Washoe Co. Nev. - 3 +seen on 1 hr. mid-day visit Aug. 27 S. fork Yuba R., 6000 ft., Placer Co., Calif - 1 seenflying in a.m. (near Aug. 17 locality).
