Cogswell 1950 Zenaidura macrona 2 Aug. 5 - Reno & farmland E & SE of it, 4500 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - only 4 seen in 1 hr. drive along roads, seemingly in optimum habitat. Aug. 6 Carson Valley, 4700 ft., Douglas & Armstrong Cos, Nev. much commoner, in sagebrush & grassland areas in the valley's hot Spr. to Carson City area. Aug. 9 Truckee, 5800 ft., Nevada Co. Calif. - 1 flying over willow-dotted grassland of Truckee River valley. Aug. 12 2 in the same area. Aug. 17 Little Truckee R valley, 5800 ft., S.E. Sierra Co., Calif. (J.M.) Only 1 seen on a 1½ hr. visit to same area as on July 27. The nest could not be located however; with no cattle present it could easily have been destroyed by their browsing. Aug. 18 S.E. end Bear Valley, 4600 ft., Placer Co., Calif. - 1 flew from a few white alders along the creek in grassy valley amid extensive Transition zone forests. This is my first record on W side of the pass this summer. Aug. 21 Drosseer C., 5650 ft., 1½ mi. E, 3½ mi. N Truckee, Nevada Co., Calif. - 2 seen in 3 hr. visit (cf. July 27) Aug. 22 Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft., 1.2 mi. SSW Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif. - 1 flew swiftly over the ski slopes. I saw it from the lodge porch - this being the only one due ever seen at this altitude.
