Catoptrophorus semipalmatus
June 25 - Sierra Valley Ranch, 4890 ft. 1 mi. W 7 mi. N Sierraville, Sierra C., Calif.
Two were scolding us vehemently from the tops of telephone poles near a small corral on a dry island amid the extensive wet pastureland here (same spot as Pintail nest, which see). Upon closer approach they flew, still Yelping, and flew around & around the vicinity & returned to the pole tops after we had gone on. We cross-crossed the area without finding their nest, altho their behavior was certainly that of members of a nesting pair. (or pairs)
July 26 Little Washoe L., 5020 ft., Washoe C., Nev. - One, still in breeding plumage, foraged actively along water's edge by dredged ditch. It was silent, apparently not being in any way connected with this site as a breeding area.
