Cogswell 1950 Lophortyx california June 27 - 6000+ ft. 4 3/4 mi. W Steamboat Sprgs, Washoe Co., Nev. - 1 flew from roadside as our car approached border of said Jeffrey Pine forest. It settled into sagebrush down slope & away from the pines. Aug. 6 5000 ft. NNW Carson City, on [illegible] Washoe Co. line, Nev. 1?, standing on large rock by side of the highway in an area of low, very dry sagebrush. [altho these are the only ones I saw on any of our trips this summer, other people saw a few in other spots of the same region in western Nevada]
