Cogswell 1950 Oxyura jamaicensis June 27. Little Washoe Lake, 5020 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - About 15 seen, both on the open water & marshy portions of this 30-40 acre lake. Several groups of 2♂♂ & 1♀ were noted in flight, the ♂♂ all being in bright plumage. July 12 - none seen [only 1 end of lake visited] July 26 at least 2♂♂ & several♀♀ seen. Aug. 9 8♂♂, 5+♀♀ seen, some in flight. Aug. 23 About 10 seen, all in dull plumage (but possibly some dull ♂♂ among the more distant ones). The lake is now quite low & very much choked with weeds. In 1948 this sp. disappeared when the water receded this much; but I am not sure whether they nested here in either year.
