July 26 - Reno, 4500 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - 8 in Idle-wild Park (some questionably fully wild birds) in W. end of town - a park fully developed for city recreation, s with pond full of the usual semi-domestic mallards, white geese, Muscovies, etc.
Also: in residential area 1/3 mi. S of center of town, a flock of 9 flew over headed northward (roughly toward the park).
Aug. 6 N. end Washoe L., 5010 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - about 150 which were standing on the sandy-mud of the lake shore (with some Pelicans & ducks). All these flew when we (3) approached within 200 yards of them. On dry flat grassland about 1 mi. NW of the lake another flock of 120-130 seen - these flying to the lake also. Another 20-30, in small groups, were flushed from nearby marshes, now dry except for a few pools.
Aug. 9 - Reno, 4500 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - a few on Idlewild Park pond (wild?)
- Little Washoe Lake, 5020 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - 19 on water s on far shore, most of them not flying until long after the ducks were thoroly disturbed.
Aug. 23 - Reno, 4500 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. - about 40 present this a.m., most of them flying in (flow over lawns s onto lake) honking as they came. They promptly swam up to receive food (almost from the hand) from a park visitor.
