Cogswell 1950 Ardea herodias July 3 6680+ ft, ½ mi. NW Palisade L., Placer Co., Calif (SE¼ Sec 29 R14E, T 17 N) In early p.m. one flew northward across the spindly lodgepole pine forest of this glaciated plateau, which is dotted with small lakes & has several up to ½ mi. by. July 26 Little Washoe Lake, 5020 ft. Washoe Co., Nev. - 6 birds, foraging along shallow water edges of dirt clods by deeper ditch. [none here on June 27th or July 12]. Aug.9 only 1 bird here late this a.m. Aug.23 4 present, in middle of lake, which is now shallow enough (or weedy enough) for them to wade out that far.
