Dec. 20 - Milroy, Santa Clara Co., along state highway
# 33 ♼, and over Pacheco Pass.
In this area we stopped only to look at such
birds as were interesting right along the
roadsides. Chief item of note:
1 Buteo regalis (immature) on a near plowed

The hills here are covered with scattered
Q. lobata & Q. douglasii (?) near the base and
in the higher "flats" near the pass, with a
smattering of very short chaparral along
the steeper slopes, at least to the west,
and open grassland elsewhere. There are
large sycamores in the canyons & washes.
- Los Baños area, Merced Co., Calif.
