Cogswell 1949 Icterus bullockii 1. Apr. 24 Arroyo Mocho, SE of Livermore, Alameda Co, Calif. at a point in the sycamore - blue oak woodland at 4 mi. or so from Livermore, this sp. is quite numerous. at least four ?? are in a stretch of 1/2 mi. or so of the wash, all of them singing to some degree, and 2+?? one nest, completed to the extent of an outer shell, was found about 18 feet up in outer branches of a sycamore. Further up, at the first ranch along the S.E. side of the canyon proper (8.7 mi. from Junction Mines Rd. & Tesla Rd.) several more were sing- ing, chattering; and a fight was observed between 2 ?? It took place in the lower branches of 2 different blue oaks, one bird being temporarily pushed over on his back. Both gave a bright, cheery,
