Logswell 1948 Dendroica coronata Nov. 13 Near Jewell Lake, Tilden Regional Park, Contra Costa Co., NE of Berkeley, Calif. at least 3 seen and/or heard. The one which first called "tilp" I squeaked up to within close enough range so that I could see it was not a Townsend or Black-throated Gray, & the next came so close I could see white throat and bright yellow breast + crown patches. All were foraging in lower branches of willows and oaks plus in shrubs and tall herbs beneath the tree canopy. Nov. 27 A conservative estimate of 10 seen and/or heard. The light "tilp" call was heard all thru the oak-madrone & on lower part of chaparral slope W of pond. Every time I followed it up, it turned out to be emanating from a myrtle warbler. They are certainly more common at this locality at this date than Audubon's, of which about 4 or 5 were seen or heard.
