Sialia mexicana
Nov. 7. 4 mi. W.S.W. of Palo Alto, San Mateo Co. Calif.
Flock of 6 settled into top of oaks on
ridge S. of San Francisquito Creek, many
oak moths flying all about them were
apparently not recognized as food -- and
are apparently not taken by any bird
according to John Barville, who has been
studying the moth for years & is getting
his M.A. on it at Stanford University.
Another flock of 5 or 6 bluebirds, 1/2 mi. further
to N. may have been the same ones.
