Tyrannus verticalis May 7 San Joaquin Experimental Range, alt. 1000', SSW of O'Neals, Madera Co., Calif. one pair with nest about 18 ft. up in outer branches of Quercus douglasii tree by headquarters according to Bill Keller, who climbed the tree, the nest con- tained young birds — but they must have been very small for the parents came in and fed them very quickly & spent much time brooding. A third and ? fourth kingbird across the road in small orchard caused much interference — this pair flying the 75 yards or so to do frequent noisy chases after the others.
