Tyrannus verticalis
May 7 San Joaquin Experimental Range, alt. 1000', SSW of
O'Neals, Madera Co., Calif. one pair with nest
about 18 ft. up in outer branches of Quercus
douglasii tree by headquarters according to
Bill Keller, who climbed the tree, the nest con-
tained young birds — but they must have
been very small for the parents came in and
fed them very quickly & spent much time
brooding. A third and ? fourth kingbird
across the road in small orchard caused
much interference — this pair flying the
75 yards or so to do frequent noisy chases
after the others.
