Cogswell 1949 Columba fasciata Feb.6 - 4 to 6 miles S of Marysville, Yuba Co. Calif. Flocks of 10 to 50 each, totaling an estimate 150 birds, flew over in early AM - all headed westward toward the Feather River. Mr. Ralph Baker, prof. of Botany at Yuba City Jr. College, whom we saw in Marysville, said that they are not of regular occurrence in this valley region but have probably been driven down from the oak foothills by the heavy snows there. - Yuba City to Live Oak (10 mi.), Sutter Co., Calif. as we drove along hi-way U.S. 99E here, a number of small flocks were seen - also headed west. - approx 3 mi W. of Bennington, Sutter Co., Calif. close view of 5 perched in leafless orchard trees about 1/2 mile from oak - grassland area at N. base of [illegible] Buttes.
