Columba fasciata
Feb.6 - 4 to 6 miles S of Marysville, Yuba Co. Calif.
Flocks of 10 to 50 each, totaling an estimate
150 birds, flew over in early AM - all
headed westward toward the Feather River.
Mr. Ralph Baker, prof. of Botany at Yuba City
Jr. College, whom we saw in Marysville,
said that they are not of regular occurrence
in this valley region but have probably
been driven down from the oak foothills
by the heavy snows there.
- Yuba City to Live Oak (10 mi.), Sutter Co., Calif.
as we drove along hi-way U.S. 99E here,
a number of small flocks were seen
- also headed west.
- approx 3 mi W. of Bennington, Sutter Co., Calif.
close view of 5 perched in leafless
orchard trees about 1/2 mile from oak -
grassland area at N. base of [illegible] Buttes.
