Dec. 30 ocean beach opposite S. end of Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo Co., Calif. - 1 flew up and down over the breakers in front of me for some time.
I had many excellent views of it with 9x binoculars, noting fairly heavy red (only) bill, narrow border of black on anterior edge of wing-tip, forked tail, shaggy hind crest on nape.
