Cogswell
1948
Erolia minutilla
Oct. 31 - Bay Farm Id., Alameda, Alameda Co., Calif.
(see entry under Erolia alpina regarding zone of
foraging).
Dec. 30 - Beach opposite South end of Morro Bay, San Luis
Obispo Co., Calif. - a single flock estimated to
contain 150 individuals (all checked for being
this sp. & not E. mauri) seems rather unusual
a number for a pure sandy beach. [see,
by contrast Ereunetes mauri.]
1949
Feb. 13 - Greenbrae, Marin Co., Calif. - a flock
of about 250 (plus 1 Ereunetes mauri)
were standing on the ice of a shallow
water area (presumably fresh water) at
the edge of the marsh along road toward
Ross. Some of them moved about on
the ice, a few slipping and recovering
position by rapid wing fluttering.
Others came in to join the flock while
we watched. Tide high in nearby bay
at this time.
Apr. 23 - N.W. end of Bay Farm Id., Alameda, Alameda Co., Calif. - Sur-
prisingly few, even around the usually favored fringes of
the Salcomia. Only 2 seen at such edge going out
from Island Rd. to mud flat; a diligent search
among hordes of E. mauri there revealed NONE.
