Cogswell 1948 Buteo lineatus Dec. 21: 4 mi. E, 1½ mi. S Oart Hueneme, Ventura Co., Calif. 1 adult flew from trees along Caspar Rd just E of Ventura Co. Game Preserve's barns, affording me a good view of its rich reddish "shoulders" + black & white primaries + secondaries in the instant before it disappeared around the buildings going toward a few trees out at edge of shooting ponds. I do not recall having seen this species in the Mugu area before.
