Cogswell 1948 Journal Nov. 14 Rodeo Valley, Rodeo Lagoon, Fort Barry, 300' 60', Marin Co., Calif. - with my wife & son (and about 30 others) went on the field trip of the Audubon Association of the Pacific. We left the cars at the West Portal of the tunnel from the main gate to Fort Barry, and walked along the base of hills to the north of upper "Rodeo" Valley, varying over coverage between hill slopes with dried up weeds, grasses and the damp (even marshy) areas in little valley below. A short stretch of willows was passed near the inland end of the lagoon. A fairly careful count was kept enroute here, and an estimate of all birds seen on or near the lagoon was made after circling it. Weather was cloudy, with a little mist on ocean shore. Temperature about 50-55° F. Wind not over about 5 to 10 m.p.h. except right on the beach. Following is a list of the birds as recorded on a field card enroute, the 4 columns indi- cating a rough separation for the different habitats covered. Roman numerals indicate estimated numbers. Entries made in species accounts for those names followed by *.
