Logswell 1949 Cathartes aura 2 Nov. 6 - 2 mi. S Alvarado, Alameda Co., Calif. In the dry field N. of route 17 here there 4:40 were a few live cows and apparently 1 dead one near the far side of the field -- for 18+ vultures were closely packed there, obviously pecking at a carcass I could not quite see. 6 other vultures were setting on fence posts in the vicinity.
