june 26 (cont.) - El Estero Park, Monterey, Calif. - 2 other
males were seen resting in mid-pond, accompanied
by females. The 4th ♀ swam out of tules at
edge of small island & proceeded immediately
to preen!
-Small pond just E. Hotel Del Monte, Monterey, Calif.
2 pairs seen from highway N. of pond.
July 13-15, still in bright plumage, and a ♀ with 6 tiny
downy young seen on this pond. The young
were diving frequently near the ♀.
