Cogswell 1949 Anser albifrons Feb. 5 - 4 1/2 mi. W of Thornton, San Joaquin Co., Calif. approximately 50 scattered in small groups among the huge mass of Pintails feeding here on a partially flooded plowed field. When I got out of the car the nearest 1% or so of the Pintails picked up & flew - but some 4 or 5 of the geese in the same region stayed on the ground & after a moment's pause, resumed feeding.
