Cogswell 1948 Branta bernicla Dec. 18. Tomales Point, Marin Co., Calif. - a flock estimated at 400 came in thru the mouth of Tomales Bay in late P.M. and settled on the rough (but not quite white-capped) water outside the sand bar. Another ?? flock in flight was seen far offshore; but these are the only ones in evidence. Eelgrass is abundant in the bay, with wonderfuls of it up on shore & some floating in the bay — but the brant are apparently mostly out at sea.
