Cogswell 1948 Journal 6 Oct.24 (cont) -- winged teal were identified were feeding along with some coots & a few pintails. waterfowl population present was tallied at: Phalacrocorax auritus - 2 ardea herodias - 1 * Branta canadensis - 8+ * Anas crecca carolinensis - 8+ * anas acuta - 1200 est. * mareca americana - 150 est. Aythya collaris - 2♂ Aythya affinis - 2♀ { + 20♂♀+4 of either in its other -- too far to identify } Larus glaucescens - 2 ad, 1 imm. Larus californicus - 1000 est. { but this number may include many of next species Larus delawarensis - 10+ over the hills to the NE of reservoir 3 red-tailed hawks ganged up to dive on an immature golden eagle (see respective sp. accounts). Oct.24 - Berkeley Aquatic Park, Berkeley, Calif. 16:15 - 17:15 - we rented a boat & made a loop of the main part of the lake. Complete list of the birds recorded is entered in roll book. Out- standing were: Ruddy Duck - 30 est. Herring Gull - 2+ Forster's Tern - 8
