Coggswell 1949 Buffleus griseus 2 July 4 (cont.) - Pt. Pinos, Monterey Co., Calif. is apparently all in one direction; but some 10 min. or so later the whole flock may be going in the opposite direction. This was very evident tonight between 6:45 and 7:30 p.m., during which time I watched whole flocks trace ellipti- cal courses from just off the rock at the N. side of the "Point" to a mile or more along the wave crests running approximately NE from there and return. Some few individuals turned around sooner, and for a time some went on around the Point and out of sight; but many were seen to double about several times. There is, then, no simple migratory movements along the shore going on at present — or if so it is obscured by frequent back- tracking.
