Cogswell 1948 Columbus grisegeana Dec. 18 Tomales Bay, Marin Co., Calif. 3 seen together near W shore between Hog Ro Sand Point. They were the first I had seen since 1936 (in Pennsylvania) but a dusky- necked grieve white checked larger than a coot with dull yellow bill could not be any other species, so I called the groups' attention to them. Another lone bird was seen a little further toward the mouth of the bay. Dec. 25 Lagoon at N. (ocean ave.) entrance to Ohio Oil Co., block 5 of Washington Blvd., Venice, Los Angeles Co., Calif. I seen very well, watched for some time. It was identical in appearance with those seen on Tomales Bay Dec. 18. Dec. 27 The same (3) bird in the same place. Seen also today by Ralph Mall of Los Angeles & Mrs. O.M. Stults of El Monte.
