vertebrate observation. A roster of places
visited where any such observations were
made (whether recorded or not) follows:
June 22, 25, July 4, 6, 7, 12±, 19, 25, 26, 27, 30 - N. side
of Pt. Pinos - usually from 15 min. to 1hr.
observation, scanning the ocean for shear-
waters (which, see species accounts) & anything
everywhere
also going by.
June 26 }
July 17 } Descadero Point
June 26 - S. side of Salinas River mouth + nearby lagoon,
July 11, 27-" " " , black.
June 26, July 31 - El Estero Park, Monterey
June 28, July 17 - Huckleberry Hill (highest on Peninsala)
June 30, July 3,4, 12,13,14, 21,22,24, 25, 27, 28 - Elkhorn Slough
+ (on some of those dates) adjacent farmland, dune,
& beach areas.
July 10 - Carmel Valley to Nobles del Rio, Hastings Res-
servation, & return.
July 17 - 17 mi. Drive from Pacific Grove to Pt. Joe, Cy-
pres Point, Pebble Beach, also:
- Pt. Lobos and ocean south of Malpaso Creek
(see Enhydra lutris sp. acc.)
July 20 - Boat trip in RM. from Monterey Harbor
to about 10 mi. west & slightly south
of Pt. Pinos & return.
July 28, 31 - by rowboat from Pacific Grove Beach
to kelp beds between there & Pt. Pinos
or out into bay 1 mi
