Coyote 1949 Journal 17 Mar.6 - Lakeport, Lake Co., Calif. - arrived here at 6:35 AM this morning. It is very wet all around, having rained for a week past according to local restaurant keeper. All the streams are running full, but are mostly of clear water. Driving 2 mi. N. of town for a few minutes (7:10 - 7:40) we noted the following species along the lake shore & adjacent farmland: Red-billed Lebe - 1 Red-shafted Slicker - 8 Western Grebe - 1 Acorn Woodpecker - 5 Canvasback - 1+ Nuttall's — 2 Great Blue Heron - 1 Black Phoebe - 1 Red-tailed Hawk - 1 in. Crow - several Calif. Quail - 7 Scrub Jay - ( Calif(?) Bull - 1+ Plain Titmouse - 4+ Coot - 150+ White-breasted Nuttatch - 1 Black Rail - 1 Robin - 3 W. Meadowlark - 8+ * Red-wing - many Brewer's Blackbird - — White cr. Sparrow - 15+ Song Sparrow - 1 Keithley Ranch, 3 mi. S. Lakeport, Lake Co., Calif. We left the ranch house area about 9:00 AM. Drove a short distance up the road toward Hopland & then hiked in northerly direction up farm road, canyon, & along ridge to
