Feb. 13 - Inverness Ridge, via road westerly part "H" Ranch, northernly,
McLure's Rch., Heboe Rch., to Pierce Ranch or base of
Point Peninsulas Marin Co., Calif. - Land birds
seen enroute here are listed with those of "Point
Reyes vicinity" above. All were in open,
grazed farmland except the few labelled
as "in Bishop Pines", which few not saw
during a 15 minutes stop therein. The
farms here seem far less closely grazed
than those toward Point Reyes. There
is much brush from knee to waist high
in the gullies & even on some quite flat
slopes. We saw so many deer while
driving along, that we decided to keep
a count on the return trip - which
spelled [see odoroileus columbianus species out].
Feb. 22 - Walnut Creek, Contra Costa Co., to Livermore,
Alameda Co., Calif. 10:15 - 11:15 A.M. - Did
bits of birding along the road here &
there. Nothing unusual, but see Spinus
tristis species account.
- SE of Livermore up Arroyo Nocho Canyon
(to 14 mi. marker), Alameda Co., Calif. again
looked over the country and occasional birds
from the roadside. Lots of sycamores
in the lower wash, but they seem to have
much denser branching than in So. Calif.
