Cogswell 1949 Journal 4 Jan. 30 (cont.), Larus canus, and Megaceryle alcyon, and Leucophoyx candidissima. - Marin Co. Park at Stinson Beach, Marin Co., Calif From about 1:15 to 2 P.M. we looked thru this fine little park which has scattered cottonwood & (alder?) trees, some of which had buds just opening, and tangles of blackberry vines & a climbing, my- leaved, yellow-flowered composite. Such an area located right next to a sandy beach seems an anomaly; but Marin Co. seems to be full of things like that. a list of the birds observed in the 45 min. follows: [* = see species account] Killdeer - 2+ (foraging on grass & gravel driveways in picnic areas) -- among trees!) Glaucous-winged Gull - many overhead. Hummingbird (sp.?) - heard Red-shafted Flicker - 2 Downy Woodpecker - 1 Chestnut-backed Chickadee - 2 Bush. tit - flock heard * House Wren - 1 Robin - 10+ Hermit Thrush - 1 orange-crowned warbler - 1 (prob. V.c. sordida) Myrtle Warbler - 2+ Audubon's Warbler - 5
