Jan.29 (p.3) same spot where we saw 2 in Sep.
Meadowlarks and Robins were singing there also.
Jan.30 Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Beach & Stinson Beach, Marin Co., Calif. - w.e drove here via Route 1. Western Bluebirds, Robins, and White-crowned Sparrows were the con-spicuous small birds. also saw 2+ Scrub Jays, 1 Turkey Vulture, 3 Red-tailed Hawks & 2 Ravens. at place where highway #1 comes close to Muir Beach there were at least 15 Wilson's Snipe [see species account] and numbers of Kell-deers in a very wet pasture.
- Bolinas Lagoon, Marin Co., Calif. - Large flocks of gulls & shorebirds rest on points along the N. shore at high tide. we were able to get out to one of them dry-shod. The bay itself held fewer waterfowl than in Sep. - but more diving ducks. we covered the east & extreme NE shores from the road, and the aforementioned point on foot (at mouth of Barodic Creek ); but did not go out on sand spit W. of bay. Numbers of people were digging for clams on the rocky beach w. of Bolinas & there were very few birds, except gulls, there.
