South end of Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo Co., Calif.
From 11:00 to 11:30 I walked along a beautiful
unspoiled beach with flocks of birds on
the sand amid giant peino clam shells.
The long strand running up to the north
from here, separating Morro Bay from
the ocean, is a wonderful spot for
the study of dune vegetation. Birds
seen on the beach or ocean nearby were:
Common Loon - 1
Red-throated (?) Loon - 1
Brown Pelican - 1
Black Brant - 8 (flew over)
Baldpat - 5 (
