Hyla arenicolor
7 April Pat Holes, Indian cave, Joshua Tree Natt. Movement.
San Bernardino Co., Cal. Many were heard calling
last evening and this am. Saw a half dozen or
so in the potholes proper. They were in the water
and on the walls of the 2-4 ft. deep cylindrical holes.
Most faced down toward water - their feet were
tightly pressed beside and under the body. Most
seemed to rely upon their protective coloration and
did not jump into the shallow water of the
pothole. One on the sunny edge of the granite
hole swam to the shaded deeper portion.
